About the System

CodeRED is a system used to notify residents in the event of emergency situations or critical community alerts.

CodeRED will be utilized in emergencies such as: 

  • Drinking water contamination;
  • Utility outage;
  • Evacuation notice and route;
  • Missing person;
  • Fires or floods;
  • Bomb threat;
  • Hostage situation;
  • Chemical spill or gas leak;
  • Bio-terrorism;
  • Other emergency incidents where rapid and accurate notification is essential for life safety.

All residents are encouraged to sign up for CodeRED, which is an emergency notification system recently implemented by the Borough of Longport for fast delivery of emergency communication. Click on the register link below and enter the information requested. This service is free of charge. In the event of closings and/or emergencies, you will be notified via email, text and cell phone. If you know of any resident who does not have access to the internet, you are requested to either assist them or have them contact the Police Department non-emergency line at (609) 822-2141 or (609) 823-2731 Ext. 100 or 114 for assistance.

Mobile Alert App

Residents and Longport visitors alike can receive enhanced public safety alerts no matter where you are located via the CodeRED Mobile Alert app — a free public safety app for both Android and iPhone users. The CodeRED app delivers community and emergency alerts to individuals targeted within an impacted geographical area, and allows you to receive timely notifications when you're on the road and/or away from home.
