Motorcycle Unit
About Us
The Longport Police Department maintains a Police Motorcycle Unit as a supplement to the normal patrol functions of the department. The unit is made up of officers from the department who are experienced in motorcycle operations; this qualification is in addition to their normal patrol duties. The Motorcycle Unit is normally utilized for general patrol, traffic enforcement, parades and escort duties. In addition, officers within this unit are more approachable and result in citizens discussing their problems and form better partnerships with the police. This allows for problem solving and for the community members to improve their quality of life.
