The Longport Police Department is proud to announce that Lieutenant Ray Burgan has officially graduated from the FBI National Academy Session 295 in Quantico, Virginia, on September 4, 2025. The FBI National Academy—established in 1935—selects fewer than 1% of law enforcement leaders worldwide after a rigorous nomination and vetting process. Over an intensive 10-week program, Lt. Burgan completed advanced coursework in:

  • Leadership & Executive Decision-Making
  • Crisis Mangement
  • National Security & Intelligence
  • Drug Crime Response Strategies
  • Organizational Image Management
  • Officer wellness & fitness

He also earned graduate-level academic credits and a Graduate Certificate from the University of Virginia.

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Lt. Burgan successfully completed the FBI’s iconic “Yellow Brick Road” 6.1-mile obstacle course, earning the coveted yellow brick. At the graduation ceremony, FBI Director Kash Patel addressed the class of 254 graduates, representing 49 states, the District of Columbia, 20 international countries, six military organizations, and four federal civilian agencies.

Session 295 created lasting bonds among law enforcement executives from across the nation and around the world, providing a unique forum to exchange ideas and advance innovative strategies in modern policing.

The Longport Police Department congratulates Lt. Burgan on this remarkable achievement. His dedication to professional growth strengthens not only his leadership but also our department’s continued commitment to excellence in serving the Longport community.
