COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT | ||||||||||||
| We currently have four trained full-time Public Safety Telecommunicators who are certified in CPR, Basic Telecommunication, 9-1-1, Emergency Medical Dispatch and NCIC (National Crime Information Center). The Communications Department is manned 24 hours a day/ 7 days per week.
To be a certified Public Safety Telecommunicator, each candidate must attend a Basic Telecommunicator 9-1-1 course and an Emergency Medical Dispatch Course that also requires CPR certification. Once the certifications are obtained, the Telecommunicator candidate can attend an 80-hour dispatch training internship program giving them the experience and knowledge needed to become a full-time Public Safety Telecommunicator. This department also hires part-time PST’s allowing the full-time PST’s more opportunity to take their desire time off.
